I want to start this review by saying I never played Titanfall 1, so the review is not on the franchise but solely on Titanfall 2’s own merit.

There are two types of playable styles in the game, the one being as the pilot/character and the other is in a titan. With that being said, there are variations of pilots and titans. Compared to the Call of Duty franchise, Titanfall 2’s character are much slower, thus emphasising a need for titans within the game and in that way feels closer to a battlefield game.

So here is the main part of the game, the titans. There are different variations to suit anyone’s battle needs. Whether it is tanking, support or just a good all round machine, there is a type of titan for everyone. The titans are slightly customizable with skins and abilities. Primary weapons unfortunately are set for each titan in the multiplayer side of the game.

You play as Jack Cooper, a rifleman for the frontier militia, who soon has to put all his training to action as his squad gets wiped out and he forced to use a titan which he is not yet qualified to pilot. With minimum experience, Titan BT-7472 (an artificial intelligent robot) aids jack in learning how to pilot the Titan.

The game takes place on a system of planets called “The Frontier”. A battle is fought between the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation and the Frontier Militia over control of the system. The IMC are abusing the planets’ resources and it is up to the Frontier Militia so save it all.

The game features some amazing stage lighting, rocket flares and smoke detail. All to immerse you more in the overall battle experience. All the action is up close, so you get to experience intense graphics right up in your face.

The levels are massive in size (between a C.O.D and a BF map). And if you take the time to look at the detail you will appreciate it more. Once you’ve killed off the opposing team or AI in the single player campaign, just stop and look for a moment. Then let me know what you thought in the comments.

I wasn’t too focused on the music in this game as the battles are so intense. But the gunfire and explosions really makes you feel as if you are in a warzone.

Replay value

Well, seeing as how this game won the Game Critics Award for Best Online Multiplayer 2016, I should think that this game would live up to the award. And as I’m coming to find out more and more so, it might do just that for 2016 and 2017.

Trust me when I tell you guys that you won’t be disappointed in the game. I would recommend this game to any and all types of gamers. Just keep your fingers crossed for the developers to add the co-op for campaign sooner rather than later and the game will be solid.
